Thanks to their shape, flat suction cups offer a great deal of stability as well as good positional accuracy when placing materials. They facilitate the handling of flat workpieces both horizontally and vertically. Cleats in the suction cup ensure a good shear force hold and prevent slippage, such as when heavy, oily steel sheets are tipped in the automotive industry. A low tare volume facilitates short cycle times

- Cleats in the suction cup serve to enlarge the active suction area for markedly better suction force
- They do not suck up and deform flexible workpieces
- Cleats are especially highly recommended for flexible products and for machines with high acceleration
